Faith, Family, Football
Many of you have said you want to hear more about our faith journey as well as how we incorporate it into our busy schedule. Attached below is a video of us talking about our faith and what it means to us. We did this video as a favor to our church for there Christmas Eve service. We have had a lot going on lately so finding a time to do the video was a bit tough... but we felt this side of our story is MOST important to share with others. Everyone knows Adam's football story but that is just a glimpse of his/our life.
Adam and I both grew up Catholic. Going to church every Sunday, not getting anything out of the services..and maybe even falling asleep at times lol. It wasn't until college that I went to Crossroads Church with my mom and really started to grow in my faith. She had been going there for a few months and really wanted me to come check it out. So I went and checked it out and it was so amazing. Everything the Pastor was saying seemed directed towards me and what was happening in my life at the time (I was going through a tough time in college) and I ended up leaving church with tears in my eyes. God had spoken to me that day and it felt like I took a step closer to him. When Adam and I started dating and we'd come home on weekends or breaks we'd attend Crossroads, and we eventually got married there, and now today we still go there as a family.
I've gotten closer with God just by going to church, but as I've gotten older I've also learned ways to continue getting closer to him outside of church. I try to read from the Bible daily, pray every morning and night, and I try to be open with my faith to others. I defiantly do not know everything and am in no ways a perfect person. I still have a lot of learning to do and I want to eventually dig deeper into the Bible and do a few study's...(hopefully Adam and I can do a couples one when life slows down a bit). We've also talked about doing a mission trip..which will most likely happen once Adam is done playing football. Someone from Crossroads reached out to me a few weeks ago about a moms bible study group, which I am very excited to join next month.
As a family we try to incorporate God into our lives as much as we can. By praying with one another before meals, talking about God to Asher, and sharing books about God with him have all been helpful. I think having faith in our lives is super important. It has grounded us, kept us humble, and has helped keep us close as a family and Adam and I close as husband/wife. I really feel that God put us in the position we are in to share our faith with others. He's given us this platform for a reason and I believe it's to try and help others, give back, and be the best people we can be in the limelight. Football is a scary thing and I believe having faith has helped Adam get through his 4 years playing...and also helped me get through it by knowing that whatever happens is for a reason and all in God's doing. There are many temptations being an NFL player..heck there are a lot of temptations for anyone..but having faith really has been our backbone through everything and I'm not sure where we'd be today without it.
We live life just like everyone else... (besides some fun exclusive events here and there) we sin, we make mistakes, argue, and swear every once in a while. Faith, family, football...that really is the order we try and live by. It's hard sometimes, especially during the football season when football is Adam's main focus and I'm so busy with everything else. But we really do try our best to put faith and family as the #1 and 2 top priorities. Adam and I both say that the greatest days for our family are just spent relaxing with one other...and honestly our favorite date nights are the nights when Asher goes down to sleep, and Adam and I make popcorn and watch a movie (or a Dateline lol I love those!).
We truly are so thankful for everything and we have been blessed with much so far in our lives. From Adam having his dream job, to me having my dream job of being a mom...we have had many blessings, but we've also gotten through our hard times by relying on God and knowing whatever happens is what's supposed to happen. Knowing and believing that someone (God) is there for you through thick and thin is so comforting to know. I pray that even one person can take something away from our video or from reading this, and realize there's more to this life and if you feel something's missing it may just be God!
Acts 16:31 "They replied, Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved- you and your household."
