Season 5 in the books
What a season it has been. I am finally getting the chance to sit down and write about all my thoughts from the season. It's so crazy to me that Adam's 5th year with the Vikings has come to an end. 5 YEARS! That's a long time to even play in the NFL, let alone be on the same team that long...what a blessing!
So obviously we all agree that's not how we wanted the Vikings incredible season to end. But as I sit here and reflect on this past season I can't help but think what a special one it was for Adam, and for the entire team. I love looking back at pictures from the season... maybe that's why I take so many each game;) Someday Adam will thank me! Even seeing how much Asher changed throughout the season just blows my mind! Adam had an incredible personal year and I am so proud of him. From going over 1,000 yards to being one of the top receivers in the NFL. He truly has worked hard for everything he has earned and has still stayed humble through it all. We were all so bummed with how the season came to an end, but it truly was a season to remember and the team can hopefully just build off of it and carry that into the next few years!
Some of my fav pics from the season are below!
This year was so fun for our family and the fans of Minnesota. We are lucky we got to be apart of it. Because both Adam and I grew up and have lived in Minny most our lives, it was extra special. Every game this year was so fun to watch and it was awesome for Adam to be apart of such an incredible year like this one was. Obviously being Adam's wife I have my own thoughts but I truly think he had a huge part in helping the Vikings have such a great season and get to the NFC championship game;) Every season may not be a great season like this past one was. There are ups and downs in every sport and that is just part of it. I'll be proud and still love my husband no matter what, win or lose, 1000 or 100 yards! And in the end it is just a sport... and faith, family, and health far outweigh any sport.
What an accomplishment to be in the NFL for 5 years, and what a blessing these past years have been. From Adam paying his way to do a Combine, to getting a tryout with the Vikings, to practice squad, to star special teamer, to now a Pro Bowl wide receiver. Only God could be in charge of that path. And as for me...I'm trying to keep up with this rollercoaster life. Thankfully God helping me get through each and every season, each and every injury, and each and every trial and triumph. This life definitely is not easy. We have many blessings and are able to do many things as you all can see by my social media posts. I don't want you to think we are perfect or have the perfect life just because of Adams "stardom." (I put that in quotations because to me he's not a star because of football...he is a great husband and father, so he's a star for that in my book...:)) We have struggles outside of the limelight. We have fights, we are not the best parents all the time, and we sin just like everyone else. Our life is different. I don't really know how else to put it. We try and be as normal as possible but especially with Adams big year this year, he's getting more attention...and with him getting more attention I do too. More attention as we try and go out to a quiet family dinner, more attention for signings and appearances, and more attention from past friends/ people. The support is great and we so appreciate it but sometimes, especially from my perspective it can be a LOT. It's tough and Adam has handled it so well these past years (way better then I probably have). But like I've said in previous posts, even though it's hard at times, we are both blessed to be in the position we are in. Our goal in the limelight is to try and do good, spread positivity, and try to spread God's word/light the best we can.
Topping off the end of a great season was the Pro Bowl in Orlando a few weeks ago. Adam playing in the Pro Bowl was obviously second to the Super Bowl, but it was still such a great experience for him and our family. We had so much fun and Ash man and I are so proud of Adam. It was awesome to be able to take Asher on the field after practice and he loved playing catch with daddy. Adam had practice everyday and had most afternoons off. We got to go to Universal Studios, Disney world, and hang by the pool a bit. The weather was decent. The first two days were nice and 70/sunny. The last few days were a bit colder..and for the game it rained the whole time;( For most of the game Asher and I huddled down under the stadium, tried to stay dry, and watched the game on the tv's. It was an honor for Adam to get voted in and play in the game (and he scored a TD which was super cool)...we hope he can make it again someday! It was a trip we will never forget and a great way to end an incredible season.
This past week was insanely busy for Adam with the Super Bowl being here in MN. I feel like I barely saw him because of how many events, autograph/signings he had. Asher and I are excited to have him back and have a relaxing week as a family. Our first trip this off season is next week. Just Adam and I are going to Jamaica without our little man. Adam deserves a nice little getaway and break (and I do too;)). We are both SO excited for this trip and to get away just us two. No doubt that we will miss Asher soooo unbelievably much but I know it will be great for our relationship! We're bummed the football season is over but our family is excited for a nice, relaxing, and fun off season. We are still going to be super busy and we have many places to travel. Adam also has a few signings and events he has to be at. Overall it will be nice to have Adam home more and I'm personally excited to have a little more help and get a little more "me time":)
I just want to thank every one of you for the support this season and those who have followed us even before this season...maybe even from 5 years ago when Adam first made the Vikings practice squad and he was barely known. It's been a crazy ride, but we love all the positivity and the support thus far. I also want to thank you guys for supporting me with my blog. It really is so fun for me to have something of my "own." I don't want to lose myself in this crazy ride and mom/NFL life, and I want to keep my own identity...which I feel this has helped me in doing so. This blog has given me the opportunity to be open about our life behind the scenes, share our faith journey (we still have a ways to go and a lot to learn), and give you (from my perspective) a little behind the scenes of our fam/football life... I want to try and tell/show you we really are a normal, down to earth family who is no where near perfect. I hope you all continue to follow along with us this offseaon and in the future. I'm sure I will be sharing so much this off season with you all, so be sure to stay tuned:)
xoxo with much LOVE,
MRS T
